Maria Encarnacion (Shon) Ortiz, 96 a long time resident of Talpa passed away on March 3, 2020 Maria retired from the Taos Municipal Schools and was an active member of her church, St. Francis de Asis. She is preceded in death by her son, Gilbert A. Valerio Jr., mother, Charlotta Ortiz and father, Luis G. Ortiz and her brothers and sisters, Alipio Ortiz, Viola Ortiz, Edna Hartt, Elidoro Ray Ortiz, . She is survived by her son, Robert L. Valerio and daughter, Grace V. Montoya, grandchildren, Steven Valerio, Robert Valerio Jr., Garrick Garcia Sr., (Corine), Deborah Valerio Vanderhee (John), Margie Garcia, great-grandchildren, Adria Garcia, Garrick Garcia Jr., Marcos Medina, Emilio Medina, Aaron Vanderhee, Audrey Vanderhee, Matthew Cortez, many great-grandchildren, brother, Antonio Ortiz and sister, Beatrice Berg, other relatives and friends.
