Mary Granito

Biography


MARY R. GRANITO Passed away on April 13, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Granito; her mother, Jennie Gonzales; father, Adrian Gonzales; mother-in-law, Genevieve "Beva" Granito; brother, Adrian Gonzales; and sister-in-law, Debbie Gonzales. Mary was born on March 1, 1933, in Santa Fe, NM. Mary was the Director for the American Red Cross in Santa Fe and retired from the State of New Mexico as the Director of the State Records Center and Archives.

She was a member of the Greer Garson Theater Guild and the Santa Fe Council for the Arts. Mary was a long time member of the St. Francis Cathedral Parish. She was a caring wife, mother and friend. Mary will be missed by all who knew her. She touched the lives of many by being compassionate, loving and understanding. She is survived by her children: John Granito III, Father Mark Granito, Paul Granito, Maria Granito (Lou Tilmont); granddaughter Rachel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as close family friends. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Shirley Mallot for her care and compassion.

Services were held on April 20, 2011 at the St. Francis Basilica. A private burial followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are: Lucas Garcia, Mario Rodriguez, Francisco Rodriguez, Paul Broadhead, Joseph Malone and Luke Malone. Honorary pallbearers: Marlena Figge, Gillian Harrison, and Rose Broadhead. Altar servers will be from Holy Child Parish Catholic School in Tijeras. We would also like to thank the staff from Holy Child Parish and Catholic School for their generosity.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Mary's name to the Santa Fe Carmelits or the Santa Fe Red Cross.
