Mary Joan Scherer

Mary Joan Harper Scherer of Los Luceros died peacefully on January 12th, 2011.
The daughter of Joseph W. and Anne Katherine Adams Harper, Joan was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1925. She graduated from First Avenue Presbyterian School in Atlanta. In 1946 she married Richard M. Scherer of Dayton, Ohio. She moved to New Mexico in 1992. Joan was a very creative person who loved animals and the skies and landscapes of the Southwest. She passed these gifts on to her descendants. She is survived by her children, Diane Elizabeth Scherer Bowman and Susan Katherine Scherer Gandy, and by her grandchildren Jonathan Matthew Bowman, Hannah Elise Bowman and Taylor Katherine Gandy.A memorial service will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Española on Friday, January 21st at 4:00pm.
