Michael Vigil

February 14th, 1963 - January 26th, 2024

Biography

The family of Michael J. Vigil is abundantly grateful for the life he shared with them and in prayer, expressed their final earthly goodbyes to their beloved Michael. He passed peacefully from this earth to his heavenly dwelling on January 26. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Rey and Carmen Vigil, brother Roland, and brother-in-law Tom Rivera. Michael is survived by his wife Jana Cordova, sisters Patricia Rivera (+Tom, husband), Barbara Lowder (Dennis, husband), brother Rey (Maryann, wife), niece Andrea Rivera, nephews Tomas Rivera, Steven Lowder (Andrea, wife; Ruby Ann, daughter), Aaron (Cherise, wife; Little Aaron, son), Jacob, Ben Vigil, and dear cousins and friends. Michael retired from the State of New Mexico. He volunteered extensively at Los Ranchos de las Golondrinas and was an active participant in many historical re-enactments. Through his love of New Mexico history and expertise in costume design, he served as a consultant of historic Spanish colonial costumes and patterns, which even included costumes for his beloved dog, Snowflake. He loved traveling and was blessed with opportunities many times. His Knighthood in the Knights of Jerusalem led him to the Holy Land, where he worked with orphanages. We will miss this kind, loving soul as we grieve his loss. Services will be held Saturday, February 24, 11:00 am at Rivera Family Funeral Home, 417 East Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM

So sad to hear Michael passed away. Now only did we work together, we were good friends. He was intelligent, happy-go-lucky young man always ready to spring his enthusiasm on us. This was a friend that will truly be missed. (Michael, your Conquistador dragon continues to scare the bee-geebers out of us). Pray for us, Conpadre!
