I just found out that my very good friend Patricia died of a heart attack already 2 months ago.
I was wondering why I hadn’t heard from her for so long, my phone calls, emails and messages weren’t answered.
We used to talk via skype about every two weeks, sometimes even more often.
Today I woke up at 4am and weirdly, she was the first thought that came to mind.
With an uneasy feeling I googled her name and had to find out that she died 2 months ago of a heart attack.
She lived by herself in New Mexico, with her 2 horses and 2 dogs.
I met Patricia in a very funny way, about 20 odd years ago when I lived in the US.
I went to a horse event in Fort Worth where I accidentally ran into her at the entrance.
It seemed that nothing was going on, no people waiting, cashiers unmanned. We looked at each other with disbelief, checked our watches and an were sure that we were on time.
Ha! We were an hour late since we hadn’t switched our watches to Texas time! We laughed and went to our seats. Patricia’s seat was on the balcony and I was seated down by the arena. We met for lunch and she decided to come down to sit with me because (despite her expensive ticket) I had a better view.
So our friendship began.
I lived in Colorado at the time and Patricia came to visit me several times.
We met in Ojo Caliente for a relaxing weekend.
I had made plans to move to New Zealand, so I never got around to visit her at her new ranch in Cerillos.
But we talked often and she had planned to travel to New Zealand in a couple of years…
I am heartbroken of her death; I will miss her tremendously.
Rest in peace my friend.

A good friend with a heart of gold and zest for life and adventures. She was the first to welcome us to Cerrillos with her humor, her energy, and her many stories! Her memory is a blessing.

Oh, I am so shocked and saddened to learn of Patricia's death. I learned of it just today (September 11, almost 5 weeks after her sudden death). We last had lunch together a few months ago and pledged to do it more often. Just recently, she nudged me, on FB, we need to do it, and I "meant" to make a plan. I am heartbroken now.

I am so sorry to hear of Patricia's passing. We are both authors and met at Cerriillos Station while doing a book signing and speaking about our books. I am truly shocked as we had lunch on her birthday and she was so happy.
Blessings on your new journey Patricia!

Patricia was an incredible woman. Strong, smart, generous. She volunteered in the Las Campanas Compadres Equine Assisted Therapies program for several years. As Programs Instructor I appreciated her horse skills, compassion and reliability. Most of all I appreciated that she was a strong advocate for our therapy horses. Patricia - you made a difference in the world in so many ways. I admired your devotion to your parents and the wonderful book you wrote. You will be so missed.

I’ve known Patricia for over 30 years and am totally heartbroken. She was a wonderful friend who was extremely intelligent and sensitive. I miss talking to her. Our conversations lasted hours and we caught up often. I hope she didn’t suffer prior to her passing. I loved her like a sister and will always think of her. I would like to know what was the cause of death.
