Raymond Andrew Martinez, age 58 was born and raised in Taos NM and graduated from Taos High School in 1983. He resided most of his adult years in Las Vegas where he worked as an electronic projectionist. Ray had recently moved back to Taos to enjoy his retirement years however his time back home was shortened due to an illness, and he passed away on November 1, 2023.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Robert A. Martinez and Arlene E. Martinez, great grandparents Eloisa and Nieves Anaya, grandparents Patricio and Eva Martinez, Alicia Wisehart (George), Eloy Santistevan and many uncles, aunts and relatives. He is survived by his life partner, Marijane Fredericksen, his sister Roberta Martinez-Flores and brother-in-law Jeff Flores, nephew Christian Flores, niece Lauryn Fielder (Josiah), great nephew Elijah Fielder and many other relatives and friends.
To all who knew Ray, he was considered a kind, generous and honest person. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Taos, NM on Friday November 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Internment will follow immediately after at the Martinez Cemetery in Ranchos. A meal will be served at the Llano Quemado community center at 1:00 pm.

He was our family growing up next door and always hanging out with my bros playing and growing up and into men. Ray and I played music together as high-school friends-and shook his homefrom the basement. We were roommates in Phoenix when he went to school, and roommates in Vegas when he started his career. We saw hundreds of performances together from Al DiMiola to Megadeth to jazz. He was an intelligent and humble man. He was an amazing friend. He left us too soon. I miss you RIP buddy.... RIP

I’ve had the honor of knowing Ray since the ‘90s. He was also a fellow Drummer. He is going to be missed dearly. Deepest condolences to his family. God bless him.

Everything wonderful that’s been said, and then some. I was also apart of the gang that did hundreds of shows together. Long long days, but we had fun. A fellow drummer, one hell of a kind soul. RIP Brother.

I am very glad Ray was one of my first friends when I moved to Vegas and we remained friends long after I left . We spent many days and nights working together as well as time getting steak and beer. My heart hurts

Ray and I worked together for the better part of 2 and half decades... He was always gentle and easy to work with. Never had a bad word to say about anyone. You always knew that projection would be covered when Ray was on the call. Super good friend and I will miss you very much.
