Biography


Reuben F. "Wimpy" Vigil, 92, of Espanola died peacefully on Monday November 30, 2009. He was born in Guachupanque to the late Francisco and Genara Vigil, and was a US Army veteran during world war II, and worked as a draftsman for the Zia Corporation in Los Alamos as well as being a talented writer. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his brothers; Manuel and Ramon Vigil and sister Josefita Vigil. He is survived by his first cousins; Julia L. Wallace and husband Roger of Jemez Springs, Pauline L. Quintana and husband Kino of La Mesilla, Flora L. Martinez and husband Tony of Ranchitos, Lorraine Lujan of Espanola and Mayble L. DeAguero of Lomita CA, Special friends and nieghbors Ken Salazar of Arroyo Seco, and Dennis Salazar of Espanola who enjoyed a close friendship with Reuben, and long time close friend of the family Ginko Urioste of Santa Fe. A public visitation will be held on Thursday December 3rd at Rivera Family Funeral Home at 5:30 pm., with the rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00 AM at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Espanola, with interment to follow at the church cemetery with military honors. Wow.. I'd never seen that picture of my great-uncle Reuben! Now I know where I get my super curly hair from as none of my immediate family members have hair like ours (thanks uncle Reuben)

Uncle Reuben was a talented writer and I enjoyed the screenplays he wrote and read to us; myself and my mom (Manuel's daughter, Antoinette). He was a genuinely nice person and VERY funny; he cracked me up! I think I may have got my humor from him as well. :)
