Richard Eddie Burch, age 83, a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023.  He was born April 25, 1940, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Eddie J. Burch and Evelyn Gallegos.

Richard grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1958.  Richard served four years in the United States Air Force, serving at Holloman AFB, New Mexico after receiving training as a medical lab specialist at Gunter AFB, Alabama.  He spent his entire working career with Southwest Distributing, working along-side his uncle, cousin and son, first as a salesman in Santa Fe, as the Santa Fe branch manager, and later as a sales and operations manager in Albuquerque.  Richard and his wife Dorothy enjoyed their retirement years at El Vado Ranch, tailgating on Lobo football game days, attending Lobo basketball, supporting the Dallas Cowboys, and participating in the family’s fantasy football league.  But Richard’s biggest love was his family.  He enjoyed visiting with, cooking for, and supporting his children and grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lorraine Stebleton, his son Kevin Eddie Burch and his granddaughter Doreen Michelle Lucero Burch.

Richard is survived by his wife, Dorothy Burch; his children Dannette Burch of Santa Fe, David Burch and wife Judy of Longmont, Colorado, and Carolyn Scott and husband John of Lucas, Texas; his grandchildren Eric Burch of Milan, New Mexico, Davis Burch of Longmont, Colorado, and Natalie, Jack and Ryan Scott of Lucas, Texas; his sister Lucille Morris and husband Paul and his brother-in-law Larry Stebleton of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his in-laws Tony and Fila Diaz, Barbara and Jerry Abeyta and Elaine and Jimmy Martinez; and his many nieces and nephews. 

A Rosary will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 10:45 a.m. at the Memorial Gardens Chapel at Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations located at 417 Rodeo Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87505, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:15 a.m. at the chapel, a Burial Service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., and a reception at the Santa Fe Elks Lodge 460 about 1:30 p.m., located at 1615 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM 87505.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Lung Association.
