Richard Torres was born in 1931 in San Francisco, California, the second eldest of ten children. His calling in life was to teach love and kindness through his every day actions and interactions. He is an adored brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His loved ones can be found in the San Francisco Bay Area, Bakersfield, Las Vegas, Japan, Mexico, New Orleans, and New Mexico. He loved family, art, journeys, and a good cup of hot coffee. He served in the Navy, and was part of the Bikini Atoll nuclear testing in the 1950’s. During that time, he experienced 6 nuclear blasts which shaped his perspective of the evils of war and the sacredness of life. He loved pozole, a good hamburger, and the Borracho Burrito at the El Taoseño Restaurant. He is survived by many people he loved and who love him.
In lieu of flowers, please perform acts of kindness to one another in his honor. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home. To share a memory, please visit our website at www.riverafuneralhome.
