“A Pride”
A pride of splay-toes wizzles
Marched noisily down the path.
They scared the farmer so,
He nearly tripped upon his snath!
Now, if I were that farmer-man,
(And, of course, if he were me)
Why, I’d hang my scythe upon a handy branch
And suddenly-I’d flee!!
(poem by Roger M. Clough, Owl’s Head, Maine 1984)
A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held this coming Friday, September 13, 2019 at 12 noon at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos, NM.

A good memory I have of Uncle Roger is in 2000 when Danny, Leila and I traveled to Maine and stayed with him in his house on Owls Head and then we walked on the beach and then he took us over to Islesboro, because I asked him to. He told us about the ferry and went with us!And I met Leila Babbidge my sister for the first time! And I also got to see my brother Buddy who I hadn’t seen in 38 years! Roger was very hospitable! and he listened to me about great grandpa Leonard Clough’s Book of poetry that Roger had and he later transcribed the entire book! so all of cousins could have a copy! Which I thought was a wonderful thing to do. I also have good memories of uncle Roger playing his guitar and singing Jambalaya. He was really good at that song!
