Stella J. Herrera, born May 30, 1923 died peacefully on August 28, 2010. A
Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Stella passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease. Stella was born in El Guache, married Theodoro Herrera-her husband of 50 years in 1949, worked for L.A.N.L. for over 25 years, and raised 4 grateful children. Stella moved to San Diego in 2000 after the death of her husband and was also preceded in death by her father and mother Librado and Sinforosa Valdez; her sisters Celina, Librada, Agueda, Juanita and Esther; and her brothers Miguel, Bartolo and Joe (Tito). Stella is survived by her children; Ted Herrera,Jr. and wife Betty of Fairview, N.M., Evelyn Lindbloom and husband Rob of San Diego, Ca., Bettie Archunde and husband Terry of Blanco, N.M., and Michael Herrera and wife Marka of San Diego; four grandchildren, Kelly Burkholder, Sean Archunde, Kristina Sanborn and Matthew Herrera; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Burkholder and Taje, Anika, Mitch and Penny Archunde; sister in-law Flora Romero, brother in-law Gabriel Herrera and wife Priscilla and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Recitation of the rosary will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm. at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 am. at La Iglesia De Santa Cruz De La Canada, with interment to follow at The Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Serving as Pallbearers are Charles Romero, Joddie Valdez, Gilbert Valdez, Lawrence Herrera, Sean Archunde and David Valdez. Honorary Pallbearers are Wilfred Valdez and Felix Martinez. The family of Stella Herrera wishes to thank the staff at Country Villa Health Care Facility in San Diego, Ca. for their care and love of Stella. Stella, our sweet Mom, will be dearly missed by all her family and friends, especially her children. God Bless you Mom. We love you.
