Terence Stephen Tarr

Biography


A farm boy, born in Everson, Washington, on November 17, 1935, TERENCE STEPHEN TARR received his Ph. D from the University of Florida in Latin American History. He taught at the University of Mississippi for two years and the University of Denver for twenty-eight. He is survived by Michael Barraclough Pulman (his friend from 1967, University of Denver colleague from 1971 and partner since 1972); his chosen family (Guy, Cathy and Elizabeth, and his goddaughter Augusta, Gronquist); his cousin and foster brother Albert Herre; his cousin Kathleen Zuidmeer and her family; and many, many friends and other relatives in Washington, Denver, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Santa Fe, where he and Michael retired in 1991. He died in Santa Fe on December 10, a long range consequence of lung surgery in 1999.

A celebration of his life will be held in late spring, 2012.
