Tiburcio H. Roybal

Biography

Tiburcio H. Roybal (Tibo)

Tibo was born March 14, 1939, and called home on Monday, January 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 84.

Those who knew Tibo, knew he was a fun-loving jokester that always had a smile on his face.  He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, pinon picking, and going for wood. He was always excited to play Santa Claus for the children of the community, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Tibo married Marcela Jaramillo on September 2, 1967, in Las Vegas, NM. They started and raised their family in Pecos, NM where he lived until our Lord called him home. He retired from Pecos Schools after many years of loyal service. In addition to working for the schools and during his younger years, he was a member of a US Forest Service hotshot crew, worked for the State of NM, was a runner for a few local car dealerships, and served as a volunteer firefighter. Those who knew him, remember him as a genuine hard-working kindhearted gentleman.

Tibo is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Maria and Carmelita Roybal, brother Clemente Roybal; sisters Jessie Roybal, Lucy Yrene, and Frances Valencia. His mother-in-law Inez Jaramillo, sisters-in-law Margaret Roybal and Tillie Jaramillo, brothers-in-law Bobby Valencia, David Yrene, Van Jaramillo, and Johnny Jaramillo.

He will be forever loved by those he leaves behind, his wife of 56 years Marcela Roybal; his children Anna Vigil (Manuel); Jerrold Roybal (Claudette); Cathy Martinez (Tommy) and Danny Roybal (Cecilia).  Twelve (12) grandchildren, Jason Martinez (Alicia); Justin Martinez (Devine); Jeremy Martinez (Brianna); Jerrold Roybal-Chavez (Drew); Thomas Martinez (Delia); Jonathan Martinez (Edgar); Troy Martinez (Brianna); Janaha Vigil (Dru); Anali Roybal; Jazzlynn Roybal; Jerrica Roybal and Tillie Roybal. Six (6) great grandchildren, Krislynn, Hazel, Christopher, Hailey, Jesiah, and Sebastian. Siblings Florinda Lujan (Vivian); Julian Roybal (Florinda); Viola Vigil (Jesus); Joe Mary Roybal Jr. (Delfinia) and Gloria Valencia (Horacio). He is further survived by many nieces, nephews extended family and friends, and of course his favorite pup Chula.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ambercare Home Health and Donna Levine who were instrumental in our dad’s care during the last few months. Thank you to Fr. DJ Segura, Fr. Benny Sebastian, Fr. James Sanchez, Deacon Eloy Gallegos, and Deacon Gabriel Pacheco for tending to our family’s spiritual needs during this difficult time.

TiVo had really made an impact on all of us kids. Who ever was around his child was like his child too. When we walk into the house you see Tibo laughing and making jokes. He was the cool dad to any one that visit. Thank you for being a part of all of our lives and may you fly high with the angels because your wings are big.

On behalf of our mom Marcela, words cannot express how grateful we are for the love and support so many of you (too many to mention) showed us during our dad's recent passing. The countless phone calls, house visits, Facebook posts, cards, and food were so very much appreciated. Our dad would have been so proud to see the turnout not only at his funeral but at the rosary the night before and the gathering following. It made our hearts melt seeing so many join us to celebrate the man we as his family deeply cherish. Our intention is to thank as many of you personally as possible, but before time delays further we wanted to post this through Facebook so that you know how thankful and how extremely blessed we are to have family and friends like all of you. God bless, Anna, Jerrold, Cathy, & Danny.
