TOMMIE MARTINEZ


On Tuesday, September 26, 2023,Tommie Maria Martinez, loving wife and mother of five children, passed away surrounded by family in Chimayo at the age of 86.


Born to Manuel and Bersabe Romero on July 7, 1937, she is survived by her son Phillip Martinez, Daughters Loyola Montoya (John), Vivian Martinez, grand daughter who she helped raise Victoria Lucero. Brother Joe Romero (Mary), Sister, Mary Montoya, Bothers-in-law Gilbert and Wilfred Martinez, Sisters-in-law, Lena Vigil, Marcella Anaya and Geraldine Baca. She had 9 grandchildred and 5 great grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Redolfo, sons Ronald and Julian Martinez, grandson Carlos Martinez, brother Adonio Romero, sister Phyllis Romero, brother-in- law, Joe Montoya, sister-in-law Rebecca Romero and her in-laws, Fidel and Fidelita Martinez.


Tommie was raised in Velarde and attended Velarde Elementary and Espanola High School. She was a beautiful person inside and out, she worked in retail throughout her life. She was a very spiritual person, humble person and helped everyone out of the kindness of her heart. She had a love of nature, gardening, cooking and baking, taking caring for her flowers and plants. She enjoyed and loved all her grand children, she was especially close to Veronica VanGese, Phil and Carolyn Martinez and was a big part of their lives.

Services will be held on October 14, 2023 at 3pm at Rivera Funeral Home in Espanola NM.
