Biography


Valda C. Mascarenas, 80, of Taos passed away on June 24, 2008. She was born on August 17, 1927 in Cerro, NM to Jose Gabriel Vigil and Maria Eliza Espinosa. Valda was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was loved deeply by her family and friends and will be missed by many. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Mascarenas, parents, brothers, Abedon, John and Floyd Vigil, sisters, Luz Valdez, Alvessa Rivalli and Bertha Vigil, grandsons, Sammy Mascarenas Jr. and Mark Tafoya, Jr. and longtime companion, Pete Joseph. She is survived by children, Jimmy Mascarenas (Phyllis) of Alamosa, CO, Dennis Mascarenas (Elsa) of Taos, Sammy Mascarenas of Alamosa, Dorothy Mascarenas of Taos, granddaughter she raised, Velma Tafoya (Mark) of Taos, brother, Dale Vigil of Salt Lake City, UT, daughter in law, Pearl Ford of Alamosa, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grand children, 1 great great grandchild, numerous nephews and nieces.

Rosary was recited on Thursday, June 26, 2008. Funeral mass was held on Friday, June 27, 2008. Both servcies were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at the Sierra Vista Cemetery.

I am deeply sorry to hear of my Prima Valda passing away. I did not hear about it until I read in the paper. The Lord will be with all of you always and take care of each other that is what your mom would want.
