Virginia Martinez, 88, of Canon passed away on October 06, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tranquilino Vigil and Juanita Santistevan, husband, Adolpho, sons, Michael, Joseph, daughter-in-law, Peggy Romero Martinez, brothers-in-law, Margarito and Benito Martinez, and Richard Trujillo, sisters, Isabel (John) Abeyta, Viola (Henry) Romero, Lucia (daughter Frances) , Teresina (Dale) Gordon, Ruth (Frank Moya Sr.), Duane (Billy) Velasquez, brother, Tranquilino Vigil Jr. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Trujillo, sisters-in-law, Margarita and Carrie Martinez and Fedilina Vigil, sons, Kenneth (Rosella), Phillip, Francisco, Mark, and David, daughters, Rose Marie and Mary Grace. 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives, nieces, nephews, and very special friends, Andrea Dolan, and niece, Elizabeth Machado. Our thanks to Dr. Michael Kaufman and Mountain Home Health for the loving care they gave our mother in her final days. Also, special thanks to brother, Mark for dedicating his life to care for our mother.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in Canon with interment to follow at the Dolores Cemetery. My Mother was Edith Santistevan Martinez. Her and Virginia were cousins. My Mom and Dad (Herby Martinez also from Taos) loved visiting with Virginia whenever they were in Taos. My Mom loved Virginia and always thought about her even when my Mom couldn't go to Taos anymore. My sympathy to all of the family.
